The dimensions of our aluminum window sills

Mepa GmbH carries aluminum window sill profiles in a wide variety of lengths and projections. Although the dimension "length" of the window sills is clear, there are often questions about the dimension "projection", which is why we define here:

The projection, if you will, is the width of the window sill. It extends from the wall, which is higher, to the outside, which is lower, in the case of a typical exterior window sill, for example:

Since there are a lot of variations of our aluminum, we basically distinguish two window sill lengths: 

- Variable lengths of window sills
- Window sills in lengths of 6 meters 

Here, too, the areas of application sometimes differ enormously. Also, the aluminum window sills can be ordered from us in different projections:

Surfaces, colors and coatings of our aluminum window sills

Aluminum window sills are applicable in any area anyway, but they can be customized with different coating options. However, aluminum window sills are coated not only for visual performance, but the respective surface performs different protective functions: 

Due to the weather-resistant surface applied during powder coating, for example, the aluminum itself is not exposed to environmental influences such as sun, water, heat or cold. Discoloration, wear marks or simple wear of the aluminum itself does not occur. 

Anodizing coating also provides good protection to the aluminum when it comes to outdoor application.

Since the process of anodizing aluminum profiles and sheets and powder coating is very different, we are partners with different coating factories. Thus, we can guarantee professional and maximum quality of surface finishing of your aluminum window sills.

Now we come to the different color variations:

Since aluminum window sills do not differ significantly from aluminum sheets in their wall thickness, coating them is not as easy as is often assumed. It is very easy to develop quirks or other damage in the metal.

This is one of the reasons why many craftsmen do not even resort to coated window panels.

Conclusively, many coating plants do not offer a wide range of colors when it comes to window sills.

Even we, when adding aluminum window sills to our lineup, chose to offer the metal in the following coating options:

Anodized:

Not all of our customers know something about the color numbers and designations, so we are happy to clarify:

Anodizing color E6/C34 is a dark bronze color. It makes the window sill look inexpensive and high class. The color is often used for interior work, but it is also often used for exterior work.

Anodized shade E6/EV1 is a matte silver shade, which also looks very noble and makes the natural color of the aluminum appear a bit more high-class.

In the case of powder-coated window sills, you will notice that the texture is a bit smoother and shinier than in the case of anodized profiles.

The powder surface tone RAL 7016 is a dark gray, anthracite tone. Along with the RAL 9016 tone, these are the most popular tones when it comes to powder coated aluminum profiles and sheets.

RAL 7016 also takes a noble appearance due to the anthracite gray, making it very popular for a wide variety of work where the aluminum window sill should be seen.

RAL 9016 is, we would like to say, the "opposite". A traffic white tone, which is also very popular for semi-finished aluminum products and window sills.

Due to the protection from weather conditions such as continuous rain or hail that the coatings provide and the beautiful appearance, aluminum window sills can definitely be seen. Thus, an application can be made in highly visible places without having to make visual sacrifices. Poor or insufficient appearance and adaptation of the aluminum window sill to the building or premises is not an uncommon concern of many architects.
